In settings, the category input should be a dropdown and should only contain top level categories not game names etc...

Top level categories might include:

Gaming
IRL
Talk
Music
Art

Something else??

Upon selecting a category, users should be able to choose a subcategory if any. So if you Select "Gaming" then you might see another dropdown subcategory for popular games such as Diablo 4. We need to find a list of popular games and include "Other" as a subcategory.

I think this type of structure only applies to games, which is why i didnt implement it like that, the static categories are at the same level as any game that you pick.

There is no sub-level for "IRL" or "TALK" only gaming has it so it doesnt make sense to have this structure.

From a UX perspective though, it does make sense that you might pick gaming and then get the game selector.

Game titles are good for the SEO and imo gamers do prefer to tag their games properly. just my 2 sats. But I think sub-categories may work too. Just don't remove them completely.
