dca23ffbc7 lavc: Deprecate AVPicture structure and related functions 
This structure served as a bridge between data pointers and frames,
but it suffers from several limitations:
- it is not refcounted and data must be copied to every time
- it cannot be expanded without ABI break due to being used on the stack
- its functions are just wrappers to imgutils which add a layer of
  unneeded indirection, and maintenance burden
- it allows hacks like embedding uncompressed data in packets
- its use is often confusing to our users

AVFrame provides a much better API, and, if a full blown frame is not
needed, it is just as simple and more straightfoward to use data and
linesize arrays directly.

47b447aaff imgutils: Fix a typo in avcodec_get_pix_fmt_loss 
If the candidate does not have alpha and the source does have alpha
report the loss of alpha.

ac29054fda imgconvert: add avcodec_find_best_pix_fmt2() 
The number of pixel formats outgrew the number of available bits in
the bitmask used in avcodec_find_best_pix_fmt().
avcodec_find_best_pix_fmt2() uses a PIX_FMT_NONE terminated list
of pixel formats instead.

38d5533228 pixdesc: mark pseudopaletted formats with a special flag. 
This makes it possible to dintinguish them from PAL8.

Fixes an invalid write in avpicture_layout().

586657c20a lavc: deprecate img_get_alpha_info(). 
It's never been touched or used in any way since it was added in 2003
and only works for PIX_FMT_PAL8, which makes me conclude that nobody's
ever used it.

737eb5976f Merge libavcore into libavutil 
It is pretty hopeless that other considerable projects will adopt
libavutil alone in other projects. Projects that need small footprint
are better off with more specialized libraries such as gnulib or rather
just copy the necessary parts that they need. With this in mind, nobody
is helped by having libavutil and libavcore split. In order to ease
maintenance inside and around FFmpeg and to reduce confusion where to
put common code, avcore's functionality is merged (back) to avutil.

d2cbdb17b5 Re-implement avpicture_layout() using pixdesc and imgutils API. 
The new implementation is more compact, more correct and doesn't hurt
the eyes.

2de6f6e828 Make avcodec_pix_fmt_string() use the information in the pixel format 
descriptors for printing the number of channels/components.

Also replace the term "nb_channels" with "nb_components" which is more
consistent with the FFmpeg internal terminology, and is somehow
different with respect to the current definition of nb_channels in
PixFmtInfo.
